MoEFCC · tradable incentive · not tCO₂e

Green credits are not carbon credits with a nicer name.

The Green Credit Programme is a domestic incentive notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. It rewards specified environmental activities — including waste management — with tradable credits. A carbon credit is a greenhouse-gas unit. Mixing them in one campus slide is how CFOs get embarrassed.

Activity sectors (as notified — confirm current gazette)

01

Tree plantation

Not a Recycleinc SKU. Forestry / compensatory plantation file.

02

Water

Water conservation / harvesting. Adjacent to BWG’s 40 kL/day test, not our offtake.

03

Sustainable agriculture

Not our vertical.

04

Waste management

Collection, segregation, processing, recycling. This is the lane: four-stream, weighment, authorised sinks, Box Series, dry offtake.

05

Air pollution reduction

Industrial / city air. RDF may sit nearby; we match fuel, we do not run a stack.

06

Mangrove conservation

Not our lane. Chennai / coastal siting is a CRZ file, not a van route.

07

Ecomark

Product labelling. PIBOs may care; Recycleinc is not the Bureau of Indian Standards.

08

Sustainable building

Campus construction. Four-stream retrofit is operations, not a green-building rating.

What Recycleinc will put in a green-credit file

Activity evidence: kg by stream, four-stream score, processor invoices, GPS/photo custody, GST. That is what an administrator can audit. Registration, credit calculation, issuance and trading sit with the designated Green Credit Programme administrator — not with a Chennai aggregator.

If a ULB, industrial estate or PIBO wants Recycleinc on that file, we act as the measurement contractor. We will not sell “green credits from your PET bottles” on WhatsApp.

Confirm methodology and eligible activities on the current MoEFCC / programme portal before you budget a credit. Operator notes dated 17 Aug 2026. Gazette wins. Related: carbon credits · EPR (yet another instrument).
